Well I only have 6 days left until I venture into my 28th year on this planet. I could narrowly avoid it before but it’s official.. I am stepping into my LATE twenties.. FML. Not gonna lie 28 to me is a very different number than 27. 28 is like, you need to have your shit together. I mean, I guess I do somewhat have my shit together, but in terms of moving onto that second step of life – house, kids etc. it’s all a little scary to be honest – I still think of myself as 24! That being said, I think it’s important to not really let our ages define us. Everyone goes through life at their own pace and everything happens when it’s meant to. So I’m going to keep living my life with Danny and Gigi and I am very excited to see what my 28th year holds.

Being that I am now in my late twenties I guess it’s appropriate to ask for home decor as my birthday gift LOL! But seriously our home needs a serious revamp and it’s all that’s been on my mind lately. My wish list is kind of a hogwash of things but they are all things that I have been lusting after for a little while.

I didn’t really want to look back at 27 but instead look ahead to 28 and share some things with you that I’m super excited about going into my 28th year.

  1. BUYING A HOUSE

I don’t think there’s anything I am more excited for than buying a house. We moved into our apartment signing a one year lease thinking we’d be out either before or right at the one year mark. Then the Vancouver housing market decided to become expensive AF making it impossible for us to buy a house. Ugh nothing irks me more than the housing market. Before all of this happened – like 2014 or so, Danny and I were looking into buying a townhouse and had even put a deposit down, and (sorry mom and dad I have to throw you under the bus) my parents advised against it because they really wanted us to get into a detached home and I always trusted their opinion when it came to buying land/a house. Now all the townhouses we were looking at are selling for almost double what they were in 2014.. THAT BEING SAID.. everything happens for a reason and we are now hoping to find a quaint detached home in the burbs to renovate, decorate, and make our own. HALLELUJAH!

2. VISITING ITALY

Danny and I have always wanted to visit Italy. I think it’s one of the last big European vacations we’ll do before we venture on to other continents. Everything about Italy is enticing to me – the food, the beaches, the wine, the aperol sprits’ – I want it all. I also think it will have a bit of everything for Danny and I – culture, history, and culinary arts for Danny, and wine and instagrammable streets for me ;).

3. GROWING MY BLOG

I have a love/hate relationship with my 27th year and blogging. I made a lot of exciting deals and moves, but I think it was the year I had the most self doubt. I’m excited to focus on growing my blog platform vs. any specific social media page and to create really amazing content for you. I’m also excited to be a bit more choosy when it comes to the brands I work with and highlighting only the best products that I love and incorporate into my life.

4. EXPANDING A PROFITABLE BUSINESS

Probably the most notable success of my 27th year was MACCS the label becoming profitable.. Yup, it took three whole years. We started with a 10K investment which we used to build our website, buy stock, packaging, camera, photoshoots, models, makeup artists. You’d be surprised how quickly you can rack up 10K and how slowly it can be paid back. We were always successful in my eyes even if just in small feats. We had to learn a lot since first starting, some positive lessons, some expensive lessons but always learning. The best thing we ever did was become our own brand – that’s when we really saw a change in our profits because we were able to sell to both consumer and business. I’m so proud of our accomplishments and being able to now work in a surplus and I’m thankful for our patience and growing our business the right way. So I am very excited to see what this 28th year brings for MACCS and where it will go.

5. BUILDING EL CUYO

As some of you may know Danny and I purchased a little chunk of land in Mexico in a little beach town called El Cuyo which is just on the North East Coast of the Yucatan. We purchased it with plans of building apartments to rent out or use for ourselves. It’s been put a little bit on the back burner just with Danny opening his third restaurant we haven’t had the time or financial means to get it going. However, now that the third Hugo’s readies to open in the next month or so we will be able to save up to build our little paradise.

Gah, I have a similar tripod floor lamp that’s been sitting in my target.com cart for weeks. I wasn’t sure if it was trendy, or outdated, or too basic. After seeing it here it must be trendy and I’ve decided I need it.

Side note, my bday is next month and I’ve been harassed by my family and bf to come up with ideas. Thanks for sharing, this is giving me some serious inspo.
