SPRING CLOSET REFRESH

With the first days of Spring in full effect, there’s no better time to start cleaning out that closet – out with the old and in with the new! I recently went through every single piece in my closet and picked out the pieces that, although I may love, I just don’t find myself reaching for anymore. One of them being this gorgeous Band Of Gypsies jacket.

The tough thing about trying to sell higher-end pieces is you don’t always get what you should. That’s why sites like M Couture are so amazing because they’re tailored to high-end garments and accessories. Their site is super user friendly and with a couple clicks your items are posted and ready to sell! I just listed this jacket and can’t wait to see it go to it’s new home where it will get all the love it deserves.

I also spent some time browsing around and found this gorgeous Chloé wallet  and this Maje skirt which would look mighty fine hanging in my closet! I’m currently away but as soon as I’m home it’s back to cleaning and organizing for the warm season – can’t wait to dig through and find some gorgeous pieces to list.

I also wanted to share with you exactly how I go through and organize my closet each season – hoping these little tips help you with your closet clean out!

1. TAKE EVERYTHING OUT
Yes, every single last item, even things you know you will be keeping for sure, take them out. Your closet should be nothing but dust bunnies.

2. CLEAN
If your closet is like mine and has various shelving/carpeting etc. You may just want to give it a quick wipe down – you may think it’s clean until you actually clean it 😉

3. SORT ITEMS INTO PILES
Go through every single item and form three piles – keep, maybe, and no. Once you’ve gone through everything I normally break down the no pile even further into what I can sell and what I will donate.

4. REORGANIZE
At this point after I’ve established the three (really four) piles, I will start organizing and hanging/folding the keep items back into my closet to get those out of the way. Once the keep pile is organized I go through the maybes, these are always a tough one for me, I always seem to find excuses to keep things! But you have to be tough! If you’ve either never worn the item, or haven’t in years, or it’s damaged – GET RID OF IT! Trust me you will feel much more refreshed with it gone. Once you have your last keeps from the maybe pile organize them back into the mix.

Doing this every few  months makes me feel organized and ready for a new fresh season! Try it!
xx
