2019 NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Well, we did it, we’re here, 2019. There’s nothing quite like a new year to help jumpstart your goals and regimes. I took sometime over the past couple days to really think of specific, attainable goals for my 2019 year. Of course I have the usual – drink more water, spend more time with friends etc. But these are specific things that I really want to achieve and can reference throughout the year. I hope you guys had all the fun and champagne yesterday – cheers to a fresh start.

  1. BUY A HOUSE

Of all my new years resolutions in the history of resolutions, this is my complete number one. I’ve had this on my resolution list every year for three years now and I’m determined that this is the year. I’ve touched on this a bit on IG stories, but the real estate market in Vancouver and the surrounding suburbs is absolutely insane. Prices of townhomes and houses in general have almost doubled which is super discouraging for young people wanting to make that next step. But both Danny and I are determined to get SOMETHING and to do it all on our own.

2. BE PRESENT

I saw this quote recently and I can’t remember exactly how it went but it was something along the lines of don’t stress about the past or worry about the future, be present in each moment of each day. I find myself constantly dwelling on the past and worrying about the future and I never really get to enjoy the moment I’m in. I thought of this as I was walking Gigi, I was sad about something that had happened recently and I had to ask myself, why am I sad? It’s a gorgeous day, I have the best little doggie that I get to take on walks, she has the most bomb new leash, and in this moment I am happy. I found myself doing the same thing the other night, I woke up around 4am dwelling on the past and I had to remind myself, – you’ve got some sweet new bedding your lying on, Danny got you the cutest silk sleep mask you’re wearing, you’re sleeping beside your best friend, and the best little doggie is at your feet, in this moment I was happy and I forgot about everything else. This is something I know I’m going to struggle with but that I will continue to put effort into for 2019. HAKUNA MATATA!

3. ADOPT A CONSISTANT GYM SCHEDULE

This is something that I have consistently struggled with. I go through phases with the gym where I either love it or hate it, I’m hoping in the new year to completely commit to 3 days a week.

4. TAKE A RELAXING TRIP JUST DANNY AND I

As much as we love travelling with others, and as much as we love visiting new and exciting destinations (like we just did in Europe), trips like that can leave you run off your feet and you almost need a vacay from your vacay. This year I think we will be scaling back on the trips but I definitely want to try and sneak in maybe one to Mexico or Hawaii just the two of us to completely relax, connect, and indulge.

5. LEARN SPANISH

Since being with Danny for over ten years I have a good idea of the language but I’d really love to become more fluent to be able to hold a proper conversation. I started taking spanish classes back in the fall so I want to continue onto the next courses and perfect my español.

6. STRETCH/MEDITATE

This is something that has been on my bucket list for a long time. I’ve heard from many different sources how it can do wonders for your body and mind but it’s one of those things that you never make time for. I finally had a free night to do this recently and would love to continue this at least once a week into 2019. I simply turned on a spa playsuit, did some old dance stretches on my yoga mat, and laid down eyes shut for 5-10 minutes just listening to the music, followed by some hot tea – felt amazing!

7. ADOPT A CONSISTANT DAY OFF WITH DANNY

How we don’t have this already I do not know. It’s always such a struggle because in my mind Saturdays and Sundays are for fun times, but Danny is always working. He was supposed to have Mondays off but that’s never consistent. Even a ‘day off’ means running to drop something off for one of the restaurants. I do miss the days of when he did construction and I worked for the bank because we were always guaranteed the weekends to do whatever we want. God we would have hated our lives still working those jobs tho! I’m hoping to work on establishing one day for us and Gigi to do something fun (movies, brunch, hike, dog park, winery).

8. READ MORE

Sounds like a dumb one but it’s true. Thinking back on 2018 I hardly read at all! Right now I have a good 2-3 books on my radar so I want to work them into my day and sub out some screen time.

9. GO TO CHINA

It’s been on my list for some time to go over to China with Danny and my business partner Britt. Danny can explore the food scene and we can bang out our upcoming collection with our manufacturer and pinpoint exact fabrics, styles, fit right on the spot. Thinking maybe March?

10. FIGURE OUT MY TAXES

FML LORD HELP ME MY FUCKING TAXES!!!! I love absolutely all aspects of being self employed EXCEPT accounting and taxes. It is literally the WORST and I always fall so behind because I straight up do not want to do it. That said, I found a really great accountant this year so I’m hoping to work more closely with her to get everything in order and set me up for a successful and organized new year.

11. COOK MORE DINNERS AT HOME / WASTE NO FOOD

I believe I saw this one on Sivan Ayla’s page and thought it was something I’d like to work on as well. Especially the past couple of months we have been SO busy that there is literally zero time to grocery shop or cook in. With doing whole30(ish) this month I’m hoping this will give us a good jump on cooking and eating in.

12. JUMP ON THE BABY TRAIN

I bet you guys didn’t see this one coming 😉 I have a full blog post draft on children and why we haven’t had them yet which I’ll be posting later in the week. But I think this is the year we start making moves and looking into starting a family.

These are great goals. I have a few similar goals for the year. I started a few of these things at the end of 2018, like working out. I joined orange theory and now I’m hooked. I plan my life around my workouts and not my workouts around my life. I feel so much better and am starting to see results. I also started reading more. My biggest goal is starting my blog in 2019.
