5 WAYS TO GET GYM MOTIVATED //
Bottoms c/o Lilybod
As you may have seen on instagram stories I recently started up at the gym again. I feel like my relationship with the gym is a constant rollercoaster ride – I go through phases where I either love it or hate it. I think when I was most into working out was right before my wedding, I went about four times a week and felt amazing! As much as it pains me some days to put on my sneakers, I have never regretted a workout. My cousin is currently training for a body building competition so she has been awesome with teaching me how to use the machines because (and I’m sure I’m not alone), I haaaattted venturing into the weights section and always stuck to just cardio. I’ve been going about three times a week and it has made me feel so good, and strong! It’s not always easy but I wanted to share how I keep motivated and little things that help for me to get my workout done!
1. PLAN YOUR WEEK
One thing that has helped is planning my workout days at the beginning of the week. I’ll plan out the things I need to get done and pencil in the days I’ll be going to the gym. I find that this always helps with the classic excuse of ‘being too busy’.
2. GO WHEN IT WORKS FOR YOU
I used to think I had to go to the gym in the morning, and if I didn’t go in the morning, then that day was shot and I just wouldn’t be making it. I felt oddly guilty going to the gym in the morning because I’ll wake up to a ton of emails and feel like I should be working. Lately I’ve been getting up, getting ready, heading to the office, and popping into the gym at night. It’s been great because I have no guilt and really feel like my days are used to their maximum potential.
3. DRINK THAT H20
Everyday I challenge myself to drink 3 full 24oz water bottles of water each day. I find the days that I reach that goal it helps to keep me energized and ready for my end of day workout.
4. PUT ON THE STRETCHY PANTS
If all else fails, I find that there’s no turning back from just putting on the stretchy pants – once they’re on I’m not taking them off, I have to go to the gym.
5. THINK OF HOW GOOD YOU’LL FEEL
Like I said, I have never regretted a workout, I’m always left feeling amazing and like I can take on anything. On days when I might feel a bit sluggish or groggy – those are the best days to get my butt on those stairs because I know I will feel like a new person and super refreshed.
xx
