FAVOURITE SKINCARE PRODUCTS
With going into my 28th year this past January, I have definitely been more conscious of taking proper care of my skin and using products that help make it look and feel young and youthful for as long as I possibly can. I was (and when I’m drunk still am) the girl that falls asleep with her makeup on. There was a time when I almost NEVER washed my face before bed, and now the thought of it makes me feel like I need a shower and a therapist. Over the past year or so I’ve been really figuring out which products work for my skin and a routine that works for me and really helps give my skin a fresh look and feel. I wanted to share with you the products I’ve found work best for me and I use on a day to day basis. Some have been absolute game changers!
FACE WASH
Let’s start from the beginning. Being a blogger I get sent a ton of beauty/skincare products to test out. Within this realm of testing products, I’ve discovered that I have pretty sensitive skin. For example a lot of people rave about Philosophy’s Purity cleanser, but when I tried it my face developed this reaction and I had hundred of microscopic bumps all over it. I realized what works best for me is something natural – I absolutely LOVE Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Cleanser. My skin never reacts to it, it cleans deep and removes all my makeup, and overall makes my skin feel super fresh, it’s also really budget friendly. I’ve been using this for years and have no plans of switching.
MICELLER WATER
This is something I’ve started using more so in the past 6 months. The Bioderma Miceller Water is a product that was sent to me a few months ago from the brand and it is a product I tried and absolutely loved. The game changer for me was when I used it AFTER washing my face and the cotton ball came out with even further residue on it. Or I would go all day without makeup and use the micellar water when I got home to find I had lots of gross build up from the day. It makes my skin feel even more clean and fresh.
SERUM
If I had to choose one product that has single handedly changed the appearance of my skin, this would be it. Skin Ceuticals in itself is an amazing brand and every single product I have tried from them I have loved, but nothing quite as much as their C E Ferulic Serum. I started using this back in the fall and within about a week or so noticed my skin looking visibly brighter and more fresh. I ran out in about February and could right away notice a difference from when I used this in my routine to when I didn’t. At first I didn’t understand why my skin was looking a little lifeless then realized that I hadn’t been using the C E Ferulic and immediately ordered more. It’s definitely a bit of an investment but in my opinion, if you are going to invest in any high quality skincare product (or line) let this be it.
MOISTURIZER
Along with Skin Ceuticals serum, I also love layering it with their Metacell Renewal B3 moisturizer. I find it’s best to find a skincare line that you love and try to use their system to really get the most out of the products – they’re all meant to work together!
SUNSCREEN
Every morning I apply, also from Skin Ceuticals, their Physical Fusion UV Defence SPF 50 sunscreen – I love this sunscreen because it’s strong, layers with my other SC products and is tinted for days when that’s all I want to wear. It’s also water resistant so it will last all day, and it leaves me feeling radiant when I’m wearing zero make up.
LIP BALM
I like to keep it simple when it comes to lip balm – rich and unscented. I love Glossier’s balm dotcom because it is nice and thick and super hydrating. I can also use it in a pinch on dry hands and cuticles and let’s be honest, the packaging is super cute.
MASKS
Once a week or so I like to use a mask to help bring even further hydrating and cleansing to my skin and again I’ve had the opportunity to test out tons of masks in my day. Lately my favourites are Origins Retexturizing mask with rose clay and Glamglow’s supermud clearing treatment. I find the Origins mask helps to make my skin feel tighter, more firm, and super fresh and new. Whereas the Glamglow mask helps to make it look and feel really clean. I use whichever I feel my skin needs most for that day/week.
ARGAN OIL
I have combination skin, but sometimes in the cold winter or hot summer my skin can get a little on the drier side. For days when I feel like it needs some extra TLC I’ll use Josie Maran’s argan oil – I’ll usually apply it before bed to let it soak into my skin overnight. It’s also great for people with sensitive skin and amazing for when you’re planning to apply heavier makeup/powder so your skin stays hydrated and it doesn’t look cake-y.
GEL CREAM
This is the most recent skincare product I’ve acquired – La Mer’s moisturizing cool gel cream. To be completely honest I haven’t had a chance to really give this one a good go, but I have heard amazing things about La Mer so I’m super excited to get into it. I have used it a couple times and love the cooling and super hydrating feel of the gel. This is something I could see myself using after being out in the sun or in a warmer destination.
